Probably more suited to FT than HFT mate.

Agreed, not what you want for HFT, the big Niko is definitely an FT scope.
£300 should be plenty for a decent HFT scope, take a look at 'MTC' scopes http://www.mtcoptics.co.uk/mtcScopes.htm and the Sidewinder 30 Tactical range from 'Hawke' http://www.hawkeoptics.com/riflescop...ical/index.php all excellent and will do the job just fine.
PS: In HFT you are NOT allowed to adjust the Mag or Parallax focus once you have started shooting, 10x mag is therefore all you need and seems to be the setting most people use as it gives you a reasonable depth of field enabling you to just about make out the 45 yard and 8 yarders!

    Big Nikko

Ditch the big Nikko idea for the HFT game as the other chaps have said. The big Nikko is a dedicated FT scope.

I would recommend the Hawke tactical, Leupold, lightstream and more Sightron scopes seem to be cropping up here and there.

    Cheers and all the best.

The big nikko is a great scope but not for HFT, I use an EB sniper and rate it, but lots of good scopes out there, remember you can only use up to 10 mag so 50 mag would be kinda pointless, the weight is also a negative for HFT ATB Hughie

The EB sniper is a good choice, top quality fixed mag scope,as you are not allowed to touch your scope once you start a HFT comp,it's all you need

The Nikko has a narrow depth of field even when wound down to 10x because it has a big front lens. Try to go for a scope that has a front lens around 35 - 40mm, as when the parallax is set to 27-29yds you will get a pretty good approximation of focus across the HFT ranges.
