Silencer compared to air stripper for HFT

Sorry, another question related to HFT.

Wondered how many people shoot with a silencer in place compared to an air stripper?

Is it worth the swap from a silencer to a stripper? Just wanting to get some things straight in my head and decide whether to go with the setup I have or do a little chopping and changing.

    Opinions greatly appreciated.

    stripper

i use a stripper, dont see much difference between the stripper and the silencer in terms of pellet performance, but the stripper looks damn sexy (rowan engineering) compared to the silencer.

either one will do you for hft ;d

If a stripper makes no difference then you've either got a very good silencer or a rubbish/incorrectly setup stripper.

If you are happy with the accuracy you are extracting from your rifle as is then go with the flow. If a stripper improves things further then it'll be worth the bother.

Made no difference on my springer.

Do folks still use springers ?

A valid point, I'd never bother with a stripper on a piston rifle.

Probably should have said it was in relation to a PCP.

No, and some rich people have cars and mobile phones and electric guns

Use an Elmor Fudd stripper on my GML (better than the std. one ) and used a Daystate carbon silencer on the 400 carbine I had.........TBH there wasn't much in it accuracy wise.........but that was probably more to do with who was pulling the trigger .

My son and I both use moderators on out Steyr HFT rifles. We are used to having silenced rifles and have found that the muzzle blast can be irritating. I reckon that a silencer has a similar effect as an air-stripper. Personally, I think its all in the mind and whatever you use probably has absolutely no effect on what happens to your pellet as it leaves the barrel, although I am probably totally wrong, as usual.

I currently use a HW100, which of course comes with a silencer. i get excellent accuracy with my pellit of choice and allthough i do have a stripper, after a play with it i noticed a definate decrees in accuracy. i can however adjust it (didnt have the time or inclination at the time) so im sure i could get it to atleast match the results from the silencer.

The key thing is that your rig is accurate, i wouldnt worry about wether to use silencer or stripper unless you think the accuracy could be improved in such a way.

I have an Anschutz 2002 fitted with a silencer-(made by Ken Turner, I am led to believe)-it is silent and very accurate.
I had a Daystate Mk3 FTR fitted with a CRX Barrel and a Daystate short can silencer-again, very accurate.
Both rifles have cleared UKAHFT spec courses
