    2011 Webley Tempest

In my local shop. Had a good look and a hold.
I quite like the matt finish and the box but when the price starts with a £2..
Not a good idea to display it next to an HW 45 Silver Star which also starts with a £2..

    2011 Tempest

Doesn't make sense does it apart from a nice box its just a Tempest which I think should take second place to the Nemesis, Webley of old should have developed the Nemesis and dropped the Tempest years ago.

I was in a dealers last week and mentioned the 2011 Tempest, he rang Highland Outdoors on the spot to find that despite putting in his allocation ages ago to Webley it had been lost when Highland took over.

P.s Only 7 weeks to the first arms fair at Bisley, see you there Gingernut?

The Nemesis is an underrated pistol especially in .177.

As a lifetime collector of Webleys (well nearly 40 years) can someone please explain why the Nemisis is underated????

I had to grit my teeth when I bought mine (Webley collector, had to have one), the only thing Webley about it is the grip badge and that is plastic!

You will be telling me next that the Stinger is worth re-evaluating.

I think that they are a last gasp of a failing company - a big mistake.

Any of the Webley Johnstone-Fearn system pistols are great guns. They are the best air-pistols for initial and continuing training in how to shoot an air-pistol (or cartidge pistol for that matter) properly. The early ones with their bluing and bakelite grips are better made but the Hurricane,Tempest, Typhoon (1970s version) are still brilliant pistols for training.

    Webley

Its not so much that the Nemesis is underated its just the Tempest has in recent years become overated.

However whist the Nemesis is not the best pistol in its class it is a shame that Webley did not delevope it further.

The Nemesis is light, easy to operate and accurate. It was also well priced.
That fulfills my requirements for a good pistol.
It is clear that it will never achieve the status of older Webleys a lot of which do not meet the above requirements.
That doesnt mean that I dont have the odd old Webley pistol around the place.
Sorry I meant reasonably secured to avoid 14 year olds using them.
Strange that, when I was 14 a Webley Junior or Gat was always close to hand .

Got my Centennial Tempest the other day from my local RFD for a straight £200.

I'm perfectly happy with it to be honest - build quality seems good, finish is nice. Not sure how well it shoots as I'm not going to shoot it! (Ooh,controversial! Heh heh!)

IMO the price is fine - £70 for the (very nice) box and £130 for the pistol if you break it down, I reckon that's pretty good value for what may become a future collectable.

I do like the Nemesis, it's an excellent shooter but it's not a collectable to be fair, unlike the Tempest which (also IMO) is NOT over-rated. Of all my springers it's my Tempest (my other one, not the Centennial!) I go back to every time and record the best scores with.

£200 +? You can't polish a turd that much, even if it's in a fake leather box.
Just bang them out full time at sensible money, they'll sell and add kudos to the Brummie made survivors like everything else so far that has a lick of turk to it!
