    Airsoft gas alternative

I have been reading here-and-there that Airsoft gas is actually propane.
I have found an adaptor, for sale, which fits a standard propane gas bottle and allows one to fill airsoft guns (obviously for outside use).
The one I have found has a reservoir to put lubricating oil in, so that side of it is covered as well.
Ideally I would like to know if it's ok to use (not damage my gun/s) and if it's worth buying (cheaper gas).
I do a lot of IPAS practising and shooting in the garden.
    Thanks

Like you said its the same stuff with a bit of oil added, so no harm will come to your gun (as long as you've got a gun with metal slide and/or is rated for green gas) from propane use and many others use it.
But for general airsoft things another forum such as Zero In would probably be your best bet...

Thanks for confirming what I thought, just wanted to hear it from someone else.
My present Airsoft is none blowback so not a problem with wear.
However, the next one may be blowback, so I will keep what you say in mind

For non-blowback guns you shouldn't need green gas (or propane) as you've no heavy slide to power and the gun will just run 'hot' and probably won't be accurate either...
BTW the green gas/ metal slide issue is not one of wear, but the gas is too powerful for some plastic slide models and will just cause the gun to self-destruct...

My next airsoft is likely to be an all metal blow back.
So thanks for the warning, not heard that before.
