    SMK XS3 Air pistol

Just wondered if anyone had one of these in .177, and what you think of it. I know it's only a cheap break-barrel, but I don't have any spring pistols in my collection and just fancied a plinker that wouldn't draw too much attention on the bank statement.

Thanks for your replies - should I cross it off my list? Perhaps there are other reasonably priced springers out there which will have more favourable reviews!

I suggest you forget about that one and get a Baikal 53M for the collection. They are well engineered and accurate (for a spring pistol) and will last a lifetime. £50 odd now I believe.
    Walther CP-2 Match, FAS 604 & Tau 7 target pistols, Smith & Wesson 6" & 4" co2 pistol, Crosman 1377,
Baikal IZH 53 pistol, Gamo CFX Royal,177, Umarex SA-10 CO2 pistol.

Yes, I had a Baikal for a short while and it's a lot better than the SMK.

I had a B2 a long time ago - I found it a bit underpowered and the rear sight wasn't straight, which didn't help accuracy.
Fairly solid lump of steel though, just a bit rough - despite the faults and lack of power I did enjoy shooting it.

You get what you pay for, I guess, the Baikal seems to be really good value.

    Xs3/b2

I had an old B2 ( which the XS3 is based on) a few years ago and thought it alright for the money and something to improve with home-fettling. I recently picked up ( on the BBs) a 1930's Diana model 5 air pistol and now realise the B2 is a very close copy of this mechanism. Both are about 2 1/2 ftlb and make decent plinkers that improve with a trigger polish and re-lube.

put the extra to the money the xs3 costs and buy a good used crosman 1377..not a springer but you will hit what you aim at!

The 1377 is a fantastic pistol, plenty of brass or blued parts available to replace the few plastic bits too.
Kind of has the feel of a springer in a way as you have to put a fair bit of effort in to each shot!

Lol what can i say about this pistol....

    Urm well

to start id say if you pay peanuts you get monkeys...

Anyway,as For power, youd have more chance of throwing the pellets at something, and as for accuracy, you may aswell just chuck the the whole gun at the target!

If its cheap though it could be cheerfu l
