    patching a round ball

looking to paper patch martini rounds in the future but wondered about patching musket balls.
if i had a brown bess of .75 bore for instance what size mold would i use etc.....do i take the thickness of the patch then take that off the bore size

the first thing I did with my .50 smoothbore was measure the bore, it came out at .498.
I then got jeff tanner to make me a mold and supply some patches. The mold was .486 and the patch was .12. It works fine for me at 50 yards. Sometimes you can find an off the shelf mold that will do the job and you just patch up to fit.
