Kibworth shooting ground pistol comp

The Kibworth Shooting ground Pistol competition season gets underway NEXT SATURDAY 19th March 2011.
There will be an HFT style competition, followed by Iron Plate Speed Shooting.

The HFT competition will be shot In accordance with the following rules:

START TIME 10:00hrs

PISTOLS TO BE USED
Any UK Legal air or CO2 powered pistol may be used as long as it complies with the current legislation for air pistols & has a power output less than 6ft/lbs. which may be subject to a random chronograph test.

COURSE OF FIRE:
This will consist of up to 30 designated knock-over targets with kill zones between 25mm to 45mm set out between 8 and 25 yards and may be placed in trees, hedges, streams and culverts, on poles, obstacles, banks etc. and may or may not be partially obscured. These designated targets will be identified with White numbers on Black and will have a similarly corresponding number placed at the peg. ONE SHOT will be taken at each target. The shooters toes must be in contact with the peg when the shot is taken.

After the knock-over style targets there will be two paper targets, each with 5 scoring zones, one to be engaged unsupported standing with a two-handed stance, the other unsupported standing with a single handed stance. There will be a firing line marked out on the ground and the shooters toes must be in contact with BUT NOT OVER this line. There will also be a table provided in front of the firing line on which the shooter may place pellets and rest the gun between shots but NO PART of the shooters body must be in contact with the table.

As per the standard UKAHFT rules not alterations to the pistol, stock, sights or scope can be made once the first target is sighted.

SCORING
2 points for a kill (target falls over)
1 point for a plate (metal face plate is struck)
0 for missing the target completely

CLASSES
Men, women and juniors will all be competing against each other, as will .177 and .22 calibre pistols. There will be prizes for the following classes:

CO2/Spring powered pistols Standard (unaided Iron sights)
CO2/Spring powered pistols Open (Red dot, telescopic or other aided sight)
SSP/MSP/PCP Standard (unaided Iron sights)
SSP/MSP/PCP Open (Red dot, telescopic or other aided sight)

QUALIFYING
To qualify for winners medals/trophies a minimum of 6 competitions must have been entered in any ONE class. So if you shoot 3 comps in one class and 3 in another you WILL NOT qualify for a winners medal/trophy.

IRON PLATE SPEEED SHOOTING
The Iron Plate Speed Shooting will be run in the afternoon, commencing 1 hour after the HFT competition has concluded.

It will consist of a layout of 1 to 4 metal plates and a "stop" plate placed between 5 and 20yds.

PISTOLS TO BE USED:
Multi-shot CO2 pistols firing .177 lead pellets.

SCORING
5 strings of fire will be shot by each competitor at each layout. The 4 fastest times will be added together and an average time calculated. The winner will be the competitor with the fasted average time.

CLASSES
Tyro Standard (No holster, Iron sights unaided)
Tyro Open (no holster Red dot, Laser, Telescopic or other aided sight)

Expert standard (from Holster, Iron sights unaided)
Expert Open (from holster, Red dot, Laser, Telescopic or other aided sight)

QUALIFYING

I know this coincides with the first round of the 4 counties HFT but those of you not committed to that series and are into pistols, why not make this a date.

SAFETY GLASSES
Pistol shooting, particularly Iron Plate shooting has a high possibility of ricochets, for this reason, on the Iron Plate speed shoot, shatter-proof glasses are a must. If you wear specs that are not made of glass, then these would generally be accepted as OK, if you do not, then Safety glasses MUST be worn during the Iron Plate shoot. Some glasses will be provided, but if you have your own and prefer not to share, by all means please bring them along.

You could use a catapult if you like Nick, so long as it's CO2 powered multi-shot and fires .177 lead pellets.

Just a heads up re this Saturday's Kibworth Pistol HFT followed by Iron Plate Speed shooting in the Afternoon. Full catering facilities on site and the weather is going to be lovely.
