    Question about Rapid Mk.2 on 40 ft/lbs

    - Will the air pressure of 40 ft/lbs deform standard .22 AA Fields in Rapid Mk2.
    - Will standard .22 AA Fields shoot accuratelly at 40 ft/lbs.
    - How loud is silenced 40 ft/lbs FAC Rapid Mk.2

    cheers, Dejan

    Arrow

At 40 ft lb you should probably use Bismags. Mine is set ot 35ft lb and I get around 70 shots using Bismags. I avoided the maximum power level to improve shots per fill. At that level I think you might find the AA pellets distorting but there is only one way to find out-use them! Any problems, turn the power down.
Good luck in using a FANTASTIC rifle.

Power rifle down? Can one change FAC Rapid's power just like that? I thought that power level is set in factory and can not be changed.

40ftlb is a waste of air on the MKII, reduce it to 30ftlb with Bismags or use AA Field/JSB Exacts which will be around 28ftlb and if the barrel "likes" them they are very efficient

    Question

My 34ft/lb was a 40ft/lb, the shop took out a spring and that lowered the output (thats what he told me anyway),it's now running at about 34ft/lb using AA Fields (5.51). My barrel likes the AA's & groups really well but not had the chance to see what its like in the field.

Can somebody more competent confirm the spring thing ?

How loud is it, with Vertex silencer? Is it much louder than 12 ft/lbs?

    Cool

My rapid mk11 is doing 28.7ftlb using bis mags .22, 90 full power shots and accurate to really long ranges,50,60 and 70 yds tested, wont group well in any other pellet, tried quite a few and thats what this one like's,but to find what your gun like's and dont like you will have to carry out tests, cause I can adjust power from 26 up to 32ftlb and found this level make's gun run like clockwork, lovely, could'ent ask for more, deadly accurate.

Instead of asking "how loud" (?) why not get yourself out into the wilds of the countryside, and find out?

You have the opportunity of going out with at least two people with FAC air....

Baldie, its my academic bias that makes me do the theory first. As well I quite like that idea of hunting over the Internet, you have shown to me.

if you really want to stick with 40+

Try using rimfire bullets -they will hold together at anything up to 150 ft lbs.
the ogive heads are more aerodynamically efficient. At that power it is almost at sub sonic .22 velocity, Eley magnums wil do.
PCPs are inherently loud- try a .223 or so silencer.
If you want cheap try a PH silencer - steel but good quality and made for rimmies

My mk2 is at the full 40ftlbs, and I dont notice any problems with at all, it only likes H&N baracuda match though, I fill it from a 12 1/2 litre 300 bar tank and lucky luck me a mate of mine fills it for nothing, so the wasting of air I suppose isnt such a problem for me.
