I've just read today that Weihrauch made the change from leather to Nylon piston seal on HW35s at serial number 843636 in 1980.
Just thought I'd post it here for reference.

Thanks for that Mick. Some very relevant info for the HW35 nuts amongst us - me included.

No problem John
It's from a book I've probably read a thousand times and never noticed the info before.

And on page 162 under HW35EB we find this.

I found this by accident when I was trying to find out when the HW77 was introduced.
Autumn 1983 is the nearest I can find on that one ?

Excellent bit of work Mick. I am off to check my "never been apart 35E" which is from around that period. Mind you whatever seal its got, leather or nylon it does 10.8ftlb to 11ftlbs in .22 with a slightly tired spring.
While we are on the subject of HW35 trivia Dennis Hiller [looks to the east and bows very low] writes - 'Up to serial number 754999 they have 12mm (*) scope groove and from 755000 they have a 9mm groove".
* I always understood it as 13mm but who am I to argue with God.
