What is the best .177 pellet for this rifle and what sort of groups do you get at 40 meters? Mine has the the adjustable 16 joule power setting.

I haven't tried my groups at 40m but my S200 absolutley loves Superdomes, they come out a treat.

Try JSBs and all the clones Crossman premiers and Bisley Magnums.And Logun penetrators.All these pellets work better than the superdomes in my gun,especially if you want to shoot at any range over 30 yards.Lightweight pellets are susceptable to wind drift far more than the heavier pellets are.These little guns are legendary in the accuracy department.Find the right pellet and you will be halfway there

My son always used the Air Arms 4.52 and JSB exact domed pellets at 10, 20, 30 & 40 yards with his S200 in our club comp and he always got good, repeatable results. I also understand that some like the Mosquito Express pellets too but I haven't tried them myself.
