    25mm cannon shell? Proceeds to Treats4Troops

    Anyone got an idea where this is from?

    its base stamped 25mm ADEN DUMMY DRILL. Its 9" in length

    The shell turned up at a house clearance that I was involved in, cannot find much info on the net, I was also wondering is it worth anything to a collector? If so, where would be the best place to sell it?

    Its extremely well made from stainless steel, its also quite heavy.

    Any info gratefully received.

    Sounds like a practise round or an inert replica round.

    Does it not say 'ARDEN' on it as thats a type of large calibre machine gun/cannon used on some aircraft and small forward recce vehicles although Ive never heard of a 25mm round-I thought it was Oerlikon that was 25mm.....

    Edit: Ive just looked at your picture....its definately a dummy inert round as you dont get S/S casings like that.

    Worth about 8-10 quid.

    Chrismetallica on here collects ammo - maybe it'd be worth a PM to him.

    Alternatively, how about auctioning it to raise some funds for Cliff and Gary's Treats4Troops appeal? If you decide to go that way, I'll start things off with a bid of £15!

    Hi Paddy, what an excellent idea! your starter bid is also very generous, only problem is I dont have a clue how to run it.

    If BBS folk want to bid on it, should it be readvertised? and if so, under what heading and section

    Again any advice appreciated.

    Also a very worthy cause, I should have thought of it

    I have contacted the mods to hopefully have this thread relisted in the charities section, so any bids over the generous start by Paddy will be gratefully received for a worthy cause, come on, you know you want it......

    Its a 25mm ADEN Dummy Drill round there are two types . It should have a blue painted tip to denote its a prac round. This is the one in my 25mm collection

    Hmm, no blue tip on mine, yours also has a ridge on the main body, just before its necked down. So maybe you realy should consider having this one in your collection...
