I think you decide, as you are the auctioneer .

I'll go £25, you can close the auction now
When I look back, the fondest memory I have is not really of the Goons. It is of a girl called Julia with enormous breasts.

    shell

Nice try Dave and a sterling response thanks, the thread was listed on the 02 04 11, as this is going so well, (much better than I thought) I will leave it seven days from the 2nd, so it closes with the final bid 18.00hrs 09 04 11.
Whoever has the highest bid for a VERY worthy cause will have this unusual item.

I'll push the stakes a little..

    50 quid.

Oh and used to mess about with these during my training....25mm twin Adens were mounted to earlier harriers and sea harriers.

Chris, after some Google research, your observations on the history of the shell are spot on as is your VERY generous bid!!!
It remains to be seen if that one is beaten, phew!

Well I am damned, I never knew they made an Aden in 25mm...I was all set to flame someone there!!

It appears the thing never went into production.

Oddly, this may have answered me a question as I have something very similar in 25mm, but a TP round with a green steel case. It is pristine but the primer has been removed to the powder woudl have gone that way. certainly would explain why it was done to a brand new round.

I have examples of the 30mm Aden and the M778 (TP) round used on the AH64...oddly the same.

A nice thing to have for a good cause.

If it is its not a 25mm Aden its a 25mm KBA naval gun round (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFXYGLkB5Kw). Green case and blue tip marked TP BMO 12-88 (More infor on it in Janes Ammunition Handbook)

This is the other version that doesnt require a man sat in it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaEpI...eature=related . Notice the rounds feeding in the belt system

Interesting read, especially when my Dad designed the Aden gun!
I have quite a few of the 30mm shells and he tells me that a variant of the gun is still in use today, cheers,Pat.
In saying yes to this air rifle you are confirming that you are not a messer and are allowed to go out in public without your carer
