S200 :d :d
Best? Best for what?
How many folk here have shot all 7 extensively enough to make an informed choice?
I choose a Meteor MK2

There is no best, they are tools for a job and the best will vary depending on the job that you want to do
what i meant to say is which gun is the best for everything, e.g shooting consistently without going over the limit, best grouping.etc.
there are lots of different reasons for a gun to be good, i just want to know which gun people prefer.

(keep voting!!)
surely there all as good as each other. if i had the money i would have a daystate m3 but i havent but im perfectly happy with my 400 it shoots just as straight as any of the above rifles
They are all as accurate as a each other
you have to pick the best that you will feel happy with ,
it got to fit you ,NOT you will fit it and there is a difference
the weight and balance is also important

I was referring to the discipline the gun is to be used for. E.g. a S400 makes a fine hunting rifle whereas a Feinwerkbau P70 may be less suitable (some do use them in the field though).
Basically, what all the others have said Chris. I voted for the S400 because I think it's the best allrounder from the list. That opinion is despite not owning one, or planning to.
At the risk of bragging, I'm one of the lucky one's who HAS shot all 7 - and so has Chris .
Chris - I think you chose quite a mixed bag of "specialist" and "workhorse" tools. Quite difficult to make any meaningful comparisons from a such a skewed poll. Handy for stirring up a bit of controversy though .

Surprised the MFR and the EV2 are not there
My choice would be the MFR as allround gun, EV2 as best all round FT and Daystate X2 or S410 as sensible options but of course thats my opinion only ,based on criteria that may be different to someones elses.
I'm not suprised that the 400 is winning this poll. More people will own, or will have shot a 400 than all the other guns put together. It's probably the best all rounder, but it can't compete with the others as an out and out FT gun. Give me my P70 anyday; best trigger in the universe.
And yes, Like Mr Hudson, I have been lucky enough to have a play with all of them, so my opinion is not just conjecture.

Just like a few other members, i am very suprised that a rapid did not make your list, as the list is made up of five f.t rifles and two hunters.
May i suggest that two lists could be offered ,one for f.t, and one for hunters as most people on this forum are primarily hunters, as shown by the voting.
I'll let you have a go with mine next time I have it with me, (don't think you've had a dabble have you?) see if you change your mind.Originally Posted by Paul Hudson
BTW: I shall be up there with the new toy next week if all goes well
I dont get this - the main benefit of a PCP is a huge power in a small size rifle. What i meant to say is which gun is the best for everything, e.g shooting consistently without going over the limit, best grouping.etc.
But you guys buys a PCP for shooting at sub 12 ft/lbs..?!?
Its like buying a full breed sports motorbike and never take it flat out..
If I was limited to such a low powerlimit I would never buy a PCP - IMHO a springer can give 12 ft/lbs without the hassle with tubes, pumps and so..
