    Cleaning .44/.45

    hi there,

looking to the experienced ones again - is there a 'kit' i can buy to clean/maintain a Ruger old Army .44/.45?

If not, where can I buy the bits?

just getting into the sport [after hearing that lack of new membership may bring this to a close!!]

    any help appreciated!

A standard .44 cleaning kit is what I use. However, I have soldered the twisted part of the wire brush and cut the loop off it. That way the bristles are right at the end and ideal for cleaning right to the bottom of the chambers.

There may be a dedicated brush for this job but I've never been able to find one.

Standard 44 pistol brush (from the old days ) using BreakFree CLP

Cylinder with nipples removed & nipples in a little pot then go in the dishwasher

Mines a stainless - not sure if yours is blued ......

My Nitro cylinder I just rod out & use CLP

    Thumbs up top guys!

Thanks a bunch gents - another quick one - whats a 'CLP'?

    Mine's blued with a 71/2" barrel

I guess some parts are ideal for the dishwasher - but it may strip away all the oiling, etc?

are the .44 cleaning kits easy to find? will need to pay a visit to the gunny...

being in central London does have its disadvantages

am in central London - Bermondsey

your advice is duly noted on a 'document' that I will copiously follow

PS - I read in the NRA journal that the take up for MLP events was so bad that they had clubbed it with GRCF, etc. and may have to close it off on the Imperial
