Hi guys
I'm using crushed walnut shell media and it does then job but even after 5-6 hours they're not perfectly clean and have some carbon residue on the necks. I'm also tumbling 17 Rem cases which have very small necks so I need fine media if possible.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Si
I like the idea of the Stainless media, however i'm guessing that you would need to get a new tumberler as well?
If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have been bottle feed
I also use walnut shells and I bought what can only be described as some sort of T Cut to mix with it. It works a treat.
I also use an ultra sonic cleaner now for real cleanliness but it doesn't polish the cases like tumbling does.
Hi NM
With the stainless pins - are they for wet tumbling ..??
Cheers
.
Yes, water and WUL.
stainless is the best in a rotary wet tumbler. As for a standard tumbler. Cheapest option for best results is walnut grit from your loacal pet store. comes in huge bags for naff all for reptile tanks. Just add 1 teaspoon of jewllers rouge and away you go.
ss pins won't work in a vibratory 'tumbler' so you need a thumler tumbler.
It works incredibly well, there is an excellent thread on snipers hide all about it and I'd recommend you get the media from the contact there as the pins are magnetic and easily picked up with a magnet, the STM media isn't so it's a pita to pick up in the media separation phase when they go astray.
problems with it though are peening of the case mouth which for me is a no go, works great for handgun brass.
there is ridiculous amounts of information here
