So as promised I made my way to SEAC in Paddock Wood and I'm very glad I did. I met Bob my "contact" and he showed me round and spoke to me about my rifle before chronoing it to make sure it was behaving and generally making sure I was ok to shoot. That was my first impression of SEAC SAFETY 1ST. Sandra Bob's wife made a note of my name and my compulsory insurance details before recording my chrono results and recording the details of my gun. Next it was to the zeroing range to sort out my scope,
Oh Dear its all over the place and with my limited knowledge I'm going to struggle to fix it.
I asked Bob to have a look and see what he could do and he took about half an hour getting it somewhere close and then introduced me to Steve to finish the job. Speaking to Steve soon made me realised how little I know about this sport/ subject. With Steve's help I was soon hole on hole and really enjoying myself. Steve took a good hour out of his own shooting time to help me out and after I discovered a flaw with my rifle which might see it popped in for a service he even offered to lend me his second rifle to shoot a comp with next week.

Overall a lovely set up with vastly knowledgable members in a safe but still relaxed atmosphere. Will I be going again? Try and stop me.

fees are yet to be finalised but at present its looking at £75 a year for single membership, £95 member and partner, and £100 for family (2+2).
we will open at 10am and close at 9pm weekdays and 10am to 6pm sat and sundays.
very affordable for the services on offer, inc heated ranges in winter and wind free zeroing to 55yds.
a full day shooting from opening to closing will be £7.50 per member and £12.50 visitors (half days fees are 50% of full)
member and partner will be £12.50 per day (half days fees are 50% of full)
family 2+2 members will be £12.50 per day (half days fees are 50% of full)

Shot my first comp at SEAC on Sunday. Me Thinks to the practice range I shall go. Went round with Steve (who helped me so much last weekend) and watched as he notched up not only a very good score but more enjoyably for me made some very nice shots including a "kill" at 60+ yards.

The comp is over 15 lanes with 2 shots on each lane at silouhette targets. Scoring is easy 3 for a kill (knockdown), 1 for a face plate shot (hit but stays up) and 0 for a miss including a few obscured targets which were kill or nothing.

On a personal note I ended up with 32 points total to put that into context steve hit 28 on the first 15 shots
Neve r though did I feel silly or embarassed and all the way round Steve and the more experienced guys were really supportive without being patronising and I came away from the comp to tuck into a welcome bacon sarnie knowing a lot more about myself in terms of my shooting and brimming over with new tips and hints which I will endeavour to put into practice next week.

Great fun and watch out Steve Next time I'll wear a false beard and go round twice might be bit closer then... or perhaps not

Lincoln Shooting Club Reepham Shooting Center
Reepham Shooting Centre is a friendly shooting club near Lincoln. We meet every Saturday throughout the year at Reepham Moor Rifle Range. There are two outdoor ranges - a covered 25m with 12 firing points and an open 75m with 8 firing points. We run competitions every month covering a wide range of disciplines and calibres. Several members take part in the NSRA/Eley Postal Competition. The highlight of the year is the family BBQ day in July when we have the annual benchrest competition, which is guaranteed to bring out the competitive element.

New members are welcome ... help is available from experienced members if you need it.

Now with a licence to shoot a Beckingham MOD Range Newark from 100/600 yards monthly.

Membership fees are individual £110 and family two people £199 + £89 for each person after that

Ossett & District Rifle & Pistol Club, a private shooting club offering indoor pistol and rifle range facilities. We are a Home Office Approved range, Affiliated to The N.S.R.A and a member of the Civil Service Sports Council Target Shooting Association.

Ossett and District Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1940s, originally just for Target Rifle shooting but later expanded to include the Pistol Disciplines.

The club is situated in Ossett, within easy reach of the M1 and M62. The club has four lanes for .22 (small-bore) rifle and six lanes for air rifle/pistol.

Ossett rifle section, including Light Weight Rifle and Benchrest has regular club nights on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The air weapons section shoots on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Disciplines include 25 yard prone rifle, 20 yard light weight rifle, 20 yard benchrest, 10 metre air pistol/rifle, 10 metre standard air pistol, 20 yards air pistol and 20 yards sporting air rifle. Individuals also shoot 50 yards, 50 metres and 100 yards at local outdoor ranges.


MembershipUnder current legislation, all prospective members have to serve a probationary period. This is a minimum of 4 months. In this period, full voluntary tuition will be given by current members, with the aid of a variety of club equipment such as rifles, scopes, jackets, elbow pads and earmuffs.

Following this probationary period, if you have satisfied the committee, you will be considered for full membership.

On mastering basic shooting skills and the safety aspects of the sport, you will be encouraged to enter leagues and competitions.

The Club enters summer and winter postal league competitions in the various associations to which the Club belongs, all of which are shot on our range.

Members are required to follow Ossett & District Rifle & Pistol Club range safety rules at all times.

First post - this thread seemed like a good place to start.

MENDIP SHOOTING GROUND

A great club if you are in the South West. A lovely family run business set in a beautiful countryside location. Here is a list of the facilities that they provide:

Multiple shotgun ranges (can't list them as I don't shoot clays).
60yrd covered firing point outdoor range with knockdown targets as well as paper ones. Has both sitting, standing and prone firing positions.
30yrd indoor range.
HFT range with more than 30 knockdowns from 7yrds to 45.
Woodland HFT range - am unsure of the number of targets however it is large than the one mentioned above. It also has a 30yrd zeroing range.
Clubhouse and cafe.

I believe that membership is £50 and is payed annually. Members pay £5 per session for unlimited shooting. Non-members pay £10 supposedly for 1 hour of shooting, however I have never seen this enforced. There are 6 AA S400 air rifles which you can hire if you don't have your own gun. Finally, there is an on-site gunsmith who I have never had to use but seems very knowledgeable.
