"HELP" Pistol grips Making ??

I'm restoring 2 compact pistols as a project (retired & getting bored) iv'e done 1, the second 1 needs a left side grip which was missing iv'e only got basic wood work tools & a Dremel i would appreciate any hints or tips for making this grip. No problems with stripping the guns just with the grip. Last time i made some i had my work equipment available. ...mike...

Hi there

Depending on how complex the grip is you should be able to make them with just a file, a small saw, a drill and some sand paper.
I occasionally make wood grips for my umarex 1911 which is quite a simple design so it doesn't take long or require any special tools.
If you can post any pics it would give me an idea about what sort of tools you might need for your project.

I made grips for my crosman from laminate which helps for fast removal...just score deep enough and split the un-needed lamination away.

I used an angle grinder for quickly sculpting (it burns the wood but not deeply) and a couple of rough rasps for shaping (round & half round), a belt sander for flat areas and then 80, 120 & 360 paper in order, internal radii I sculpted with various sized sanding drums mounted in a pillar drill, it took me about 2 days from block of wood to finished oiled grip,
