    Old Original 50 and 5 pistol dating please

    Hi I have an old Original 50 with a superb dark chequerd wood stock and a nice Original 5 pistol with wooden grips , can anyone advise on a date of manufacture for these .

    Hi Smoothbore

    On the rifle, look on the cylinder (L/H side) close to the stock immediately above the trigger guard and there should be a date in very small stampings..

    I can't remember when they first started putting the date on though so if it's not there then it's really old

    No dates anywhere John, has a rearsight behind the loading tap similar to a weihrauch,and it has a raised scope rail.

    According to Hiller, the wooden grip pistol was made from August 1958 to 1960.
    Cooler than Mace Windu with a FRO, walking into Members Only and saying "Bitches, be cool"

    Original 50 date stamping started during 1966

    And I don't believe any manufacturer fitted scope rails until BSA beat the market in 1959. so that dates your rifle within about six years. Dunno when Original fitted rails?
