    Gamo R-77 indexing

My Gamo revolver isn't indexing the cylinder correctly when in double action. Single action works just fine but DA causes pellets to jam between the cylinder and the barrel and for the cylinder to drop open so I guess its an indexing problem. Any ideas please?

    gamo R -77 indexing

The R-77 uses a very crude mechanism for cylinder indexing ,as I recall, and is very unlike a normal revolver system. Unless you are familiar with the internal working parts of a revolver I suggest you leave it to someone who does. Problem is that if you take it to a repair specialist it may end up costing more than the pistol is worth.

Sorry I can`t be more help. If you are confident of your ability, why not strip it down yourself and have a look. After removing the rubber grip on the right hand side there is a plate covering the inner working parts which is held onto the frame by 3 screws.. remove these and carefully lift the side plate off. Do not try to cock or fire the pistol with the plate off or bits will fly everywhere. Just have a look to see if you can see any worn or broken parts.

Thanks Pete, I'll give it a go. The 'hand' looks pretty worn to me so I'm trying to source a new one and a cylinder as well;if all else fails I'll see if I can track down another R-77.

    gamo R-77 indexing

Well, if the hand looks worn that will certainly cause the cylinder not to align with the bore. Not sure why the cylinder should pop open though.
On most revolvers the cylinder stop locks up when the hammer is fully cocked but on the R-77 it only locks the cylinder when the hammer falls.??? very strange.

    good luck.

    Pete.
