I'll get some pics sorted tomorrow. (if i can find out how to post them in this section?)

I haven't had a good shoot with it yet (only got it today),

The couple of shots i fired seemed ok.

The serial is: 1069720 (think its a early one)

Condition isn't the best but should clean up nice.

1987. So an early MkII , the new model being introduced in 1986 I believe.

I have owned an HW80 with exactly the setup you have described. Very nice it was too.
I think John Bowkett used a similar method to attach the spring guide to the end.

    Hi Lads

    Thanks for the replys

    Pics now added

    So its a mk2 1987

Its seems a good idea with the spring guide (Don't know Hw don't do it as standard)

I think the piston is standard?, just seems to be the spring guide.

    Thanks
    Rob.

Pics confirm it's an early Venom configuration, a good lube and it should work fine, if any parts needed due to wear, ring S Pope for advice.

    Thanks Steve
It all looks ok internally, I might get it re-blued though.

Just checked your pics (I'm jealous )

    Hi Steve

That design of spring guide was also used by Bowkett and Mike Wade, and I think it was also used by Airmasters ?

    All the best Mick

The Special 80 I had on here for a few days before withdrawing it this morning had similar internals but the piston was slightly shortened and had a circumferential groove and a slightly shorter piston rod than usual so a longer stroke - why, I don't know! It was also fitted with the green Venom/V-Mach seal and microgroove barrel which may be a Harper unit. It was shooting quite nicely when I got it but the ME was down at 10.4 ft.lbs, the consistency not to my liking at 7.8fps pk-pk and had rather more recoil than I like so I gave it my treatment and it now has a consistency of 4.9 fps pk-pk at 11.1 ft.lbs (my target). It doesn't have a Venom sticker but that could have disappeared over the years so it's heritage may rest elsewhere but it is in very good condition and shoots very well now. Serial number is 1066781 so a very similar vintage to yours, 1987 I believe.

Always nice to turn up these odd ones!

    Enjoy your piece of history!
