Depends on what you are using It for, I was loading 58 gn V max 41.5 gn (3540 Fps) 19" Barrel...for fox and have decided to try Nosler partition 85 gn 35 / 36 gn for fox and Roe (North of the border of course) to see how they go..both N140
Anyone use N140 in 243? What are the results like? What polymer tipped bullet would you go for?

Not sure where I`m going.....But I`ll get there someday
Yes. Excellent. 70 grain ballistic tip.
I use 38 grains of N140 for 70gr Sierra Matchings.
and 33grains for 100gr Gamekings
Both POI within an inch. Which is nice
70 grn Seirra Bk's and 42.5 grns of Vit 140 make a potent combo.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Seems like N140 does ok in the 243.
I'll probably load up some 105 grain Amax to start off with and see how they group.
Does anyone have a starting load for a 105 grain bullet with N140. I have a speer manual but no data for it in there.

If your using a bullet that heavy your case fill is porbably going to be pretty low. Something slower like N160 would be more suitable.
If your sticking <80gr then N140 is the way to go.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!
A 7mm08 shooter
I use N160 for 87 and 100gn
does the job.
am interested in some lighter bullets for foxes though and am tempted to try N140.
Cant seem to get a decent (consistent!) set of data for 70-75gn VMax for N160

This thread is 8 years old and Steve hasn't been on the board since 2016.
But perhaps someone else can help?
If it helps I used to use 38grs of N140 with 70gr matchkings.
If you are getting good results with a load, I'd now fine tune by adjusting the COL. Make 10th increments starting at 10th from the lands (as long as it still fits in your mag!)
