The BSA Mercury. Not the best airgun to use, but in appearance, very much the Ford Escort of airguns I think, i.e a design that has stood the test of time.

I'm a sucker for:

BSA Scorpions (love them, powerful, can be sweet to shoot, good trigger, can put up with lots of abuse but still be restored and shoot well, I think they look great too!)

British Phoenix Hy-Score Sporters, and US Hy-Score Sportsters, powerful, well-made and look great, also have great features.

Anything weird or unusual, like Record Jumbos, Record Champions, BSA 240 Magnums, Abas Majors, things where people came up with unusual or different solutions to the usual problems.

Finally, anything Webley before they went to Turkey!

Weak front stock screws
Thread prone to stripping on front trigger guard screw hole
Weak welds on trigger housing
Safety catches that become dangerous
Extremely fragile rear sights
Foresights that crack, and are made of a plastic that just can't be glued
Wobbly barrels

I also keep falling in and out of love with Webley pistols. I'm on my second collection of them at the moment. The first collection got sold, along with quite a few other air guns when we needed cash to buy furniture for our first house.

I have got to say Harry---the Hawk mk3 is actually the best of the Hawks. I do like Hawk mk1,s and should sort myself out a decent mk2. Mk1,s have really crap safety and triggers and the rearsight is a joke. I bought one from a gun shop a couple of years ago for a tenner. Somebody had ground the rearsight base off, and drilled and tapped the breech block for a later sight----BUT had left the barrel in when they did it and drilled into the barrel. I discovered this when a puff of smoke came out of te hole when I tried a shot
