That is so deeply upsetting to learn. I liked Rod; I liked him very much indeed and will miss both him, and his in-put on here. R.I.P. to a true BBS Legend.

The word Hero is all too often abused and ill used but not in Rods case for how he conducted himself towards the end. The manner in which he dealt with and portrayed his problems was a lesson in humility and courage that few of us could probably aspire to.

Another bbs "legend" has gone but won't be forgotten.

    RIP Rod "Respect"

My sincere condolences to his family.

All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

    So sorry to read this

From some of Rods posts about his thoughts on if he was going to continue to fight his condition I gathered things were not well (to say the least)

I never met him but enjoyed his posts and his outlook on life. Another one of the well loved members of the BBS has gone and will be missed without a doubt.

    RIP

I have just noticed this sticky.

My condolences to Rod's family. People have already said it but his fight and his courage were truly remarkable. The BBS has lost one of its more memorable figures.

    RIP Rod.

Can't add any words or sentiments that have not already been expressed.

    Rod will be sorely missed.

    First met Rod at Quarry

In the early days of the UKAHFT, I got lost getting to Quarry (Before Satnav) eventually Gazo came out and guided me into the field where we were to camp.

When I got up in the morning there was Rod grinning from ear to ear with a cup of tea for me, I didn't even hear him arrive. We spent quiet a few hours simply talking about our time and experiences in the army.

Over time I got to know him and it is with great sadness to hear of his death today, he fought hard even though he had depressive moments..RIP and farewell Rod.
