Rod's stoic way of dealing with his condition was inspirational.

RIP Rod, and condolences to your family.

I'm so sorry to read this even though I never met Rod, I thought his later posts were a lesson to us all in how to face adversity.

My thoughts are for his nearest and dearest and all who knew him.

The one time I met Rod it was before he got ill. Not many people dealt the hand Rod held even then, could have coped well at all. Not only did he manage that, but he kept a smile on his face and remained good natured.

Seems to me, in responding to news of a terminal illness, he broadened his smile and soldiered on.

He truly IS an inspiration. I'm sure he will be missed by very many people. God bless him.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

    Indeed.

There's never anything much worth saying at times like this, so I won't bother trying.

    Rest in peace, Rodders.

And talking about soldiering on, he told me a year or so ago about being awarded the 'Army 100' medal for shooting at the Skill at Arms meeting in Bisley during his service career.

A great shot as well as being a great person.

    RIP Rod.

Never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but his attitude was just awe inspiring in the face of such a savage illness. I hope his funeral was well attended, and my best wishes to all his family and friends.
