I use lightweight walking boots, quiet, waterproof, green so don't show up.

Didn't suit the other day though. New bit of land, and I didn't spot the trap. Up to my meat and veg in soggy mud mixed with cow poo. Lovely. Luckily I managed to extract myself, but I wasn't welcome home! I'll walk around that patch next time!

Either wellies, waterproof hiking boots or trainers. It depends on the weather and location.

i have used millets peter storm waterproof walking boots for the last three years, they were only £53 and i have done a couple of peaks in the lake district in them too.
still water proof, still got soles on but im on the 3rd pair of laces.
    top value imo

Goretex hiking boots by Brasher. The best I've come across so far. Extremely comfortable and well supported around the ankle.

    Boots ?

I use a pair of boots the Wife got me !
Nothing special - but comfortable and they give good support round the ankles.
I also keep a pair of wellies in the boot - just in case !!

and before you lot make any remarks about wellies - i never get bored when i'm out shooting and the field adjacent to me is full of sheep !!!

Its very much what is suitable. Anything that is comfortable has to be the first consideration. You can't walk quietly in something that takes effort, but you may not need to walk quietly anyway.

It all depends on where you shoot, how it is underfoot, how quietly or slowly you need to move, and possibly several other factors.

I have a squirrel contract where to wear DPM would guarantee a zero bag. I wear a Sports Jacket, just like the punters wear, and I don't stalk, I just walk.

Know your quarry on its home ground. It takes a bit of time and effort. I'm not being arrogant, but I've learned how to sus things out, patiently.

    Alan.
