    Walther LG300XT Carbontec.

I have been offered one of these superb looking rifles in "as new" condition.

Does anyone have any experience with this model and can advise if it would be a good choice compared with any other match air rifles that I should consider first?

Even other members of the same Walther family - or Feinwerkbau perhaps?

Lastly - what should I expect to pay for a s/h LG300XT Carbontec rifle as I have heard they are no longer the current model and that I may be able to find a "brand new" one at a discounted price.

Still available in Germany - NEW from Euro 2600 to about Euro 2800 / 3000 , but probably way cheaper
(due to new LG400 which exists in various price points ie: Basic , Competition & Expert - http://www.joerger-fritz.de/waffenan...uftgewehre.htm)

    LG300XT Carbontec

    Ended auction eGun:

So thats roughly 50% off from new price...consider Edinkillie sells these at NEW price, GBP2735

PS: Here is a Fwb Modell 700 in UK, second hand, at 1200 ish...not bad..

    Thanks JG,

Good info. about prices - I understand there may also be some new Carbontec's about unsold with good discounts as well.

Can anybody help with any comments about the LG300XT Carbontec rifles performance compared with the other LG300 series of models. please?

Is the Carbontec any lighter in weight, or is it just a fancy finish?

What are the main improvements/differences that the new LG400 series have that makes them better (?) than the previous XT300 models?

    Walther weights

Having just checked the specs on the Walther site I notice that the LG300XT Carbontec is actually heavier than any of the new LG400 rifles - now that is a surprise!

The LG300XT Carbontec weight is 4360g.

    LG400 Expert weight is 4300g.

    LG400 Competition weight is 4200g.

LG400 Basic Match Rifle weight is 4100g.

I always associated carbon fibre with light weight, so a few possibilities have crossed my mind including, the newer model range is lighter, the Carbontec has more kit on it, this is not real caron fibre - just a carbon finish on an older model of a heavier gun.

No idea which is closest to the truth - but I bet somebody on BBS can tell me!

    Walther to Feinwerkbau

Hi, my last Air Rifle was a Walther Carbontec having changed from a Feinwerkbau 700. My shooting average dropped just when I changed rifles but then came better with the Walther. Its like a fellow member indicated got alot of extras which once adjusted to suit the shooter can make alot of difference. Don't only go with the lightest rifle as sometimes weight has its own advantages in stabalising a rifle. This was my experience with the Carbontec. Hope this helps.

Thanks Aman - yes it does help as you have used the two rifles I have some interest in.
