No is the answer. My 99 came with a standard tunnel foresight with a fixed blade. The unit looks like it is cast as one piece and the knurled ring is just for show. It is held on the barrel with one screw and dovetail grooves.

As already said, no, though I can vouch for it as a cracking gun.

Ahhhh. Thanks Paul. It is just that the open sights on my boy's HW30 II are so impressive, I wondered if the similar looking yet bigger rifle in the HW range (the 99) had the same, as if it did, I may have been tempted to buy one? Oh well, never mind. The HW 30 II is a superb little shooter however, so may just get me one the same as my son's then as do fancy a nice light-weight open sighted rifle in .22 of my own to play with when he is using his . I second that Tony. I fitted mine with a Hawke 4x40 scope and it is ideal for knocking off feral's on one of my permissions. Mine is .22" and works well with RWS Hobby's and Superdomes.

I've not scoped mine up as I shoot full-bore comps using iron's so it's great to practice with. The gunshop recommended Superdomes for it but I tried other brands I have and found Accupells to be slightly better, especially at longer ranges.

Err.... point of information! The barrel and sights on your son's HW30II are off an HW30S, hence the higher spec sights. The original .177 barrel had the cheap HW 'fake tunnel' foresight on them. As I am not going to use the open sights much on my HW30S I didnt swap them sights for the Tru Glos.

So maybe only the higher-spec HWs have them? I bet the HW50S has them, it is very similar to the HW99 but with some luxus features....

No help re. the 99, however...

I'm not sure it's that straightforward on the HW30S.

Mine has the traditional HW units, foresight tunnel with interchangeable elements (good if you want to use a diopter) and non-fibre optic rearsight with rotating leaf element.

PyramydAir in the states shows the fibre optic sighted HW30S as discontinued, whilst the available 30S has the same sights as mine, so there may be a clue there.

Cheers Alistair, will investigate the HW50 then.
