    Never seen this before.

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v4...leypellets.jpg

Ive never seen this before - .22 Webley pellets in a .177 tin with an official looking 'TEMPORARY PACK' sticker on it.
Theres 467 (yes, I counted them. The things us anoraks have to do! ) .22 course, ribbed round head pellets (Webley?) in a tin that should contain .177 pellets.

Does this increase or decrease the value of the tin?

If the tin had been full and sealed, yes it would be worth more, but how would you know if it had the wrong sized pellets in it, unless you opened it?
Tin's worth a bit, but I'll give you a tanner for the pellets!

I'm guessing this is a green 1000 pellet .177 tin with a small orange temporary pack sticker for .22 pellets.

I have one that I bought myself, mid to late 60's I think, as far as I can remember (which isn't that far nowadays!)

and I need to go to Specsavers, only just noticed the pic link!!!!!!

That tin is in better condition than mine and it's only sat in the cupboard for years!.

But it's been opened Ian! How do you prove that it ORIGINALLY had .22 pellets in it! I could have a similar tin with BB's in it, but it doesn't mean that it was originally sold with them in it does it?

Your word 'sticker' gives a clue. The tin and the pellets are worth no more than any other tin and pellets.

Ian. I kid you not, given the condition of the tin (good) and the condition of the sticker (very good), coupled with the virtually complete contents, given I have seen empty rough examples of these temporary stickers and tins go for £30, your example, as here, has just got to be worth £50 plus post all day long, and maybe even a little more? Hope this helps.

    A more realistic valuation.

Wonder what a sealed example would fetch?

There was another variation, this being the orange 500 x .22 rectangular tin with a smaller round white sticker, and the logo '.177' on it. This is rare to find as the stickers were applied using a different adhesive which dried out more rapidly over the years, therefore the many of these tins just have the round outline of the original sticker.

The orange sticker - http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v4...leypellets.jpg states: 'TEMPORARY PACK. WEBLEY PELLETS. 500 .22' yet the tin clearly states '1000 No. 1 bore' Ive seen several tins with contents of 500.
I doubt if any shop would have had the stickers produced and I guess therefore it came out of the Webley factory like this when they run out of .22 tins.

At last you got it Ian! It's all about the sticker, not the pellets. Boy, that was tough!!
