Go for a 717 if you can get one.
Nice long sight plane and easy to fix if it leaks.
James.
Finding this forum has renewed my interest in airguns, and I have decided I need a decent air pistol to replace my Anics Skif A3000. After several days researching the available options I have narrowed it down to either the Gamo PR45 or Daisy 717, I have ruled out the HW40 as IMO it is very ugly.
They both have features that appeal to me.
Gamo PR45: Shorter, Lighter, easier to find.
Daisy 717: Side cocking lever, traditional appearance, metal construction.
Which of the two would you choose and why?
Is there anything else under £100 I should consider (secondhand or new)? SSP only please.
Thanks for any help
Edit: Forgot to mention that it will just be used for casual plinking, nothing serious.

Thanks for your opinion. I still can't decide between the two so I think I might just get both, and if I don't like one I can sell it again for very little loss.
Walther CP-2 Match, FAS 604 & Tau 7 target pistols, Smith & Wesson 6" & 4" co2 pistol, Crosman 1377,
Baikal IZH 53 pistol, Gamo CFX Royal,177, Umarex SA-10 CO2 pistol.
I would go with the Compact over the PR45.
So it's down to Compact v's 717.
Empty shotgun cases at 25 yards perfect plinking targets for these guns

Thanks for your help guys. I had a look at the Gamo compact, it's pricier than the other two so I'm going to go for the daisy 717, now I've just got to find one... For a reasonable price
And what do you think is a reasonable price for a second hand mint condition one?
