The barrel is the right shape on the outside but the "Gas Cylinder" casting is not machined to take a bayonet, and it of course hasn't got the cylinder machined into it or the gas transfer port. The Chinese version isn't made to take the cleaning rod either.

Hello, I ordered a deact metal 30 round Chinese mag yesterday evening - of course I won't 'brandish' my gun in the open air, way too dangerous, but it's for my own personal visual pleasure (and that of some of my friends). The next step for me will be to find an original Chinese sling - mine is a Cybergun Chinese Russian-look-alike which could pass off as a genuine Russian one as it is pretty well made...

By the way, did you notice that the lower hand-grip hasn't got the tell-tale bayonet groove? I suppose the parts they used for our guns were those they use on non-military (export) type 56 AKs.

I have my own theory about these CO2 BB AKs : they have the so-called "third pin hole" (full auto fire) on their receivers and as these receivers were banned in the US, so who knows, maybe this was a clever way of getting rid of all those unwanted Chinese third pin hole AKs...

An interesting thing would be to know whether these CO2 AKs are available for sale in the US - my Cybergun box says they are distributed by either Soft Air USA (???) or Palco Sports, but the CO2 4.5mm AK does not seem to be on their lists and I suppose the box is standard for all Cybergun AK products.

I got the AK mag I had ordered last week... but they sent me a Yugo one instead of the Chinese flatback I was expecting so now my CO2 AK is a YugoChinese one!

I thought I would post some pictures of my CO2 BB AK47 gun

The shiny metal part is the upper hand guard latch which I made but haven't blued yet
the second picture shows where they haven't machined the groves for the bayonet

    Thanks for the pictures!

I can see that you have found an original Chinese mag - I wish mine was a Chinese one too! Your gas tube looks MUCH better than the one Cybergun put on the rifle ; I can't understand why they chose to put that fake black thing instead of the real deal - do they cost such a lot of money to make? The Yunker rifles do seem to sport the original gas tubes, though... To my point of view, the front sight should also be replaced by an original one, as the model they put on our guns does not look genuine at all.

I have found an original upper handguard latch (an East German one, most probably) for my Cybergun AK, but I don't know how to fasten it to my rifle : it fits into the latch hole but is much too loose - do you know how I could fix that? (I don't want to glue it to the rifle, of course!) -->

If both pictures are of your AK47 it appears you have not changed the Gas tube cover. The latch cams against part of the original gas tube cover which is not present on the one supplied with the rifle. shown in picture below

    Latch open

    Latch closed

    in the gun latch open

    Latch closed

Where did you get the latch? I made mine because I couldn't find an original.

Thank you for the detailed (and documented!) explanation! Your latch looks even better than I thought... I bought an early East German AK-47 (MPiKM) set this morning - bakelite clip, wooden furniture, ridged receiver cover, recoil spring and much more... Among the different parts was the latch. Unfortunately, the gas tube and upper handguard I got were of a later type (no holes in the tube, brown plastic handguard) so I'm keeping them for a Yunker, if I chance to buy one some day... My set is from Germany (Saarland-Pfalz), former NVA stuff.

Maybe I could ask the man who sold it to me if he has got another latch for you, but I think it was mere chance (reiner Zufall!) that there should have been an upper handguard latch in this set...

Upon closer inspection, I found that my new AK bakelite mag had formerly borne the tell-tale star of the Tula factory on its bottom side - for an unknown reason the star has been erased from the surface of the clip... So it's a Soviet magazine, not an East German one.

    I am tempted too

With the blether about airsoft replicas and regulations , this thing is a proper airgun . It will be low power 'out-of-the-box' but like all good toys will benefit from care and some bashing from a airgun tuner .

I am currently waiting for the Yunker-4 I have ordered from Frankonia (Deutschland), my Xmas present! I'll post a few photos as soon as it is delivered to my home

The thing that worries me a little is that Yu-4 receivers do not seem to be military ones : no dimples on the magazine well, for instance... Could it be that the receivers used to build them are Saiga receivers?
