    Webley mk1 air rifle..

    Hi all

Last year an aquaintance that had collected airguns for a lot of years offered me a Webley mk1 air rifle that was in fantastic condition for a very good price..

I was to save the money up and get back in touch but other guns kept popping up for sale namely, Airsporter S, Mercury challengers, HW98, in fact all sorts!!

I bumped in to the chap a few months ago and asked if he still had the gun, he did but I felt sure that he would have sold it by now

Anyhow, I just got off the dog and bone with him and i'm going to buy it in the morning!!!

I couldn't remember much about the gun as it was well over a year ago since I saw it, I felt certain that it had acid etching on the cylinder just like my mk1 and mk2 Airsporters but now i'm not so sure

Well, as soon as I get home with it i'll be taking some pics and putting them here in the gentlemans club

I've asked to look at a couple more 'oldies that he's up for selling too, namely a 177 Airsporter and another Original mod50

2012 looks to be a promising year for new old guns

    Cheers, John

PS, I told him that I couldn't remember what it was like and he said that it was way above average with almost all of it's bluing still present

John, if it's got nearly all its original blueing and is an acid etched variant with clear lettering, it'll be the score of a lifetime!

I look foward to seeing the pics. Even if it's got stamped and not etched markings but is in good original condition, it's a superb find. Congratulations.

It's still printed in my mind that it was silver coloured etching that was in very good condition but it could be the grey matter playing tricks with me

Irrespective of which variant, it is a very nice find, but if it is the earlier etched variant it will be a superb find, and one of very few known examples still with good original etching.
Calibre and serial number would be of interest, along with pictures, of course.

Don't worry Abe, your old rifle looks even better now....

That coat of hammerite and 4 coats of yaght varnish came out a treat

The gas ram and scope is the iceing on the cake though, I'll show you when it comes back from having the bi-pod fitted.

So John, if you want that nasty old etching cleaned off and the old girl bought up to date just post it South with an Oxspring and I'll see what I can do....

    MK1

Binners did you use the Hammerite smooth or that dimpled stuff?

I find they look good in that red oxide primer you can get and did you have it screwcut for a mod?

Anyway whats all the fuss about the Mk3's a much better rifle!
