Diana 60 and 65, what are the differences?

Is it mechanical or just cosmetic?

Do the have the same diopter?

    Thanks

I may be wrong, but IMHO the 60 did not have the barrel locking lever that featured on the later 65 and 66 models.

Cheers... I will look thorugh the website. One of the reasons I ask, is because the stock looks the same for both in the Chambers parts pic and I always thought they were different...

    Thanks

I've had both. The mod 60 has a lighter full-length barrel sleeve and as said above, does not have the barrel lock. Even with the lighter sleeve, there's a lot of strain on the breech lockup on the mod 60, which I expect is why Diana added the lever lock. Without a barrel sleeve the mod 60 is light and pointable - possibly the ultimate plinker! Here is a pic by BBS member Frakor of both side by side (with Tyrolean stocks!).

    Cheers Garvin,

Are the diopters the same? Would Diana still sell them?

    Thanks
    Alex
PS you have been selling some top condition old rifles recently. Have been admiring them greatly

Cheers Alex. It's been painful letting some of my most prized items go, but needs must. Moving to a smaller place involves sacrifices...

I think the diopter on the mod 60 was a rather heavier steel framed sight whereas the mod 65 had the lighter alloy model also used on the 75. It may just be that the examples of the 65/66 that I've seen had later pattern sights fitted, or that there was a transitional period between the two styles. In any event, they are interchangeable.* I doubt if Diana still sell them but they still come up on eGun very frequently - and it's easy to have them sent over.

    * Actually I may be wrong about this: See HERE.
