    Source for blackpowder Phials ?

As flasks are getting frowned on now, I was wondering if someone could recommend a source for some phials/vials to be used to hold blackpowder charges for pistol ?

    Phials for blackpowder

    Hi Rollo

Try evil bay, look under laboratory supplies there are so many types and materials you should find exactly what you want. Personally I use plastic test tubes with a cap that will take upto about 40 grains of powder (not that I use anything like that amount ). I think they are about 12mm wide and they fit nicely in a standard MTM .308 ammo box.

I personally prefer to err on the side of caution & I don't use a flask

Another reason to use vials (because I HAVE experimented with a flask) is the variations in powder load are incredible when attempting to measure & throw from a flask.

Nice link Roy, sums it up well.

By far the most dangerous to use a flask on is the single shot m/l, load it fire it load the next charge straight away, but safe practice is what shooting is all about.

And seconded on the variation from a flask, different pressure on your finger, a slight tap on the flask settling the powder more densely.
I dont even use the flask to fill my vials, I use a Lee powder dispenser into a .357 case then weigh for a double check.

The company that advertises in the MLAGB mag provides good service and does pistol and rifle sized tubes.

No, I don't have a copy with me..
