If you use a piece of wood and a hammer and just tap it smartly from behind you'll not mark it like the pliers will...
....and a BSA ultra shorty suitably modified looks brilliant and works very well.

when i had my 2240 i used a twink mk2 silencer all you could hear was the action on firing

Hi, I have tried most on my pair of crosmans and the 2 best are the QGS and the hogan decimeater most others don't seem to work as well with co2, they really do need a lot of volume especially when tuned.My 2300t is back running at 5.5fpe and the ratty at over 11fpe @ 18c the 2300 with no silencer is ear splitting indoors.
