    I've made a start.....

I recently bought a Falcon stock off DOOBIN, with the idea of using it as a hunting stock. It was, to use Doobins' words a little tatty, with dings and scratches, but it was cheap so it was perfect. First thing I've done is stripped it. Wonderful stuff Nitro Morse. The dings and dents pretty much all came out when steamed and once sanded and wire wooled it looked pretty good. I wanted a sort of cammo effect, but it is wood, so I wanted to maintain its origins a little. Now I'm just sarting to put on the first coats of green wood stain. Later I will add black Tiger stripes, and then wax it, in the hope that it will still show a bit of grain. Going to add an adjustable butt plate, already have a bipod bought from here and sling.

I really hope this works, because its a bit of a step into the unknown for me, using coloured stains on wood. And once its stained, there's no going back really, is there?

Hopefully I'll be able to show you all some pics when its done.

    Dave.

If it works, it sounds like a very good idea. Looking forward to the pics.
