    SKAN chronograph

I looking at one of these http://skanar.co.uk

Can they be used indoors without any hassle? I.e do they need daylight to function accurately? Im looking for something to use indoors for testing.

    Good choice.

I strongly suggest you build one of these for it

    End view here

P.S. the rolled up paper in the tube is the instruction manual - doesn't get lost and helps to keep dust off the sensors!

I got mine from Target sports before they closed. However I think you can order direct from Skan themselves, which would probably be the best warranty-wise etc. anyway..

We have a number of jigs similar to the one in the photo. The latest instructions from SKAN recommend that the chrono should not be rigidly connected to the rifle as any vibration when the shot is released can be transmitted to it.

How that can be achieved and maintain very good alignment is going to be rather trickier to put into practice and I think we will try to decouple the vibration by mounting the chrono on coil springs rather than sit it in vee blocks.

I've had an earlier version for some years, and use it with a freestanding wooden 'V' block to ensure correct barrel height.

Another vote for the skan, I missed and shot mine twice so quite interested in the jigs people have made up. Works great even with dents, its a well made bit of kit. You may want to look out some scales to check your non marked pellets.
