As long as it is working as it should, it allows you to reset the safety. Being a gas ram, it can be left cocked for much longer periods than a springer. As such, it is possible to take off and reset the safety.

If it's not working, chances are that somebody has had it apart and put the trigger guard back on without cocking the trigger mech itself, which damages the seperate safety sear in there.
Don't just take it apart and then try and refit the trigger guard unless you know how to correctly, it does not just screw straight back on.
