    Choice between :

I would love to try match shooting at the lower levels of the sport, 4 rifles keep comong up for sale, out of these 4 ( FWB 300, Original 75, Anschutz 250 or Walther LG ) which would you choose as a match shooter, if you had no other choice.

FWB 300s without any hesitation, they are in a league of the own.

I would be looking to buy secondhand, any areas to look out for, when giving one of these rifles a look over.

I have them all - except the Anschutz 250 that I sold some time ago - but I still have the 380 that replaced it - so I am happy to help as I enjoy using and comparing them almost every day!

They are all "more acurate than the shooter", and if they fit you and the price is right you will be happy with any of them....but.......they all have some points to consider if it is you that becomes the temorary custodian of these now elderly match rifles.

The Diana/Original/RWS Model 75 is a superb rifle, but spare parts are not so easy to find other than seals and springs so a good check over before buying can save future dissapointments.

Ditto the Anschutz as the spares for this excellent rifle are even harder to find - and the early versions had a hydraulic shock absorber that has been known to leak! Noted for its high build qaulity in its day, but still needs checking carefully before buying and maybe trying to locate a good source of basic parts that may be needed as the years roll by.

The Walther LGR is a superb performer, and surprisingly perhaps still has very good spare parts supply from specialists like Bills Walther Spares and Repairs.

The 300S is simply peerless, and your safest investment with spare parts being freely available from many dealers and direct from the Feinwerkbau factory as well

    maybe FWB300

Iam lucky enough to own then all with the exception of the Walther LGR. [ although I`ve got an LGV special ] and they are all outstanding when compared to the usual spring pistion hunting rifle. Build quality, perfromance, handling etc. but they are complicated and some have the reputation of being a little tricky to run, especially as they get older and need repair work. I probably rate the Anschutz LG380 or the Original 75 as best, to shoot [ for me anyway ] but both of mine are on borrowed time,as I wait for some major component to fail. So if I could only have one instead of a cupboard full, it would be a FWB300.
