Would I be right in saying.....

....... that if I bought an FAC Theoben SLR98 .177, it would likely:

    1) Be as accurate if not more so than my HW77k,

    2) Feature improved engineering and finish over the Weihrauch

    3) Be a slightly better hunting rifle with the multi shot capability and stay-cocked ability,

    4) Have a poorer-quality trigger characteristic than the HW,

    ????

I would have to sell the 77 to afford it. How long will it take me to realise my mistake, or never look back? I had an Evolution that I could not get accustomed to, but even folk at Theoben say the SLR is in another leaugue.... So hard to know. Your comments appreciated.

You really need to shoot the actual gun you are considering buying.

I've had several SLR98's, whilst they look good and balance/handle nicely, they are inferior in every other department to your existing kit.

Mine were .177, 12fpe versions, some say .22 are better so how a FAC .177 would shoot I don't know. Utterly awful in my experience.

    1) Probably not
    2) Slight (depending on how old your HW is)
    3) Small advantage as long as Mr Bunny doesn't happen along when your mag is empty. Then not at all.
    4) Absolutely

As you might tell, I'm not a big fan of gas ram

    Somewhat pointless in .177 really.

Up the power of your 77 if that's what you want.

Realise that any diabolo pellet has a practical MV limit of around 925 fps for accuracy and any 77 can reach that MV figure with an average weight pellet, running 15 ft/lbs.

So save your money and spend it on tuning your 77.
