Usually no more than one or two cards, so 1 shot just at the backstop to clear any excess oil out, then a further 13 or 26.

If we are talking about black powder here, then I don't shoot any IN my club - it's an indoor range with no real facility to clear the air of BP 'exhaust'.

However, on a week-end shoot on our outdoor range I'll prolly shoot 80 -100 [that is to say 72 - 96] in my ROA.

I clean the gun when it gets fractious - that usually happens around 48 shots/8 cylinder loads. A quick pull-through the barrel and a regrease of the cylinder pin and we are good to go again. I have to admit that I wipe the gun over after every six shots, but that's just an external cosmetic clean-up.

After shooting I just wipe the gun all over with a baby-wipe and clean up properly as soon as I get back to the hutch.

Normally I shoot 2,3, or 4 loads of 6. I dont just shoot one coz if I made the thing dirty I may as well have some fun.

During a session I shoot other stuff so not just a m/l and I'm backup RO so time is of a premium. A good evening is 2 loads with m/l, 2 lots of 20 with my .22 and a couple of goes with .357 underlever and a lot of chinwagging, oh and a coffee.
