    Hydrographics

    Hi all,

    Simple question really, any one had a stock dipped by Hydrographics but in a walnut effect instead of camo etc, how did it look and does it were (I think that's the right one) well, any comment would be rather smashing.

    Cheers

    Hi,

    Not had one done I'm afraid, but seen a few.

    The finish from new is superb, but you have to understand that even in a wooden finish, the gun somehow looks plastic!!

    Even though the pattern is photo realistic, it doesn't truly follow the contours of the wood, particularly around the grip. It somehow looks all wrong - pretty, but wrong. It's OK to use it to disguise a poor stock, but it will never look like a good walnut stock.

    Dipping

    Hi Pete

    Saw a couple just today at Hydrographics.

    Very good looking and very effective.

    It's fair to say that after closer inspection they will look less like wood, but its a bit different;

    Grade 1 exotic walnut sporter stock = £500ish.

    Burr Walnut Dip, £150 ish.

    No tears when you scratch the stock = priceless.
