    feinwerkbau sport 127

Hi guys, been mooching about the site for ages but finally got around to making a few posts.

First thing I want to learn from here is a valuation please.
I recently took a FWB 127 Sport as a px on a rifle. It is in extremely good condition, has the gold sticker still on the top! there are some very fine rust spots on the barrel but I am told they can be easily removed with fine wire wool soaked in oil...
Anyway, I have no real need for the gun and am considering selling it. I guess here is the best place to get a valuation.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Edd

seems a bit high compared to most of the asking prices i have seen, think anyone having a go at valuation will need pics.

I thought it seemed high. I had one of these a year or so ago but it wasnt in the same condition as this one. It was tidy but this one really is mint apart from the external rust spots.
Not to keen on trying to clean them off with wire wool as Im worried about damaging the bluing.
I could do some pics if anyone would be able to help with a valuation?

200 plus post is about right for that one

If you can show a photo of the worst of the rust it would help

    Thanks
As for the rust...Thats it!! the spots are so small they dont really show up in the pics, you can feel them more than you can see them.
What about removing the rust? Is it safe to try it with oil soaked wire wool as has been suggested?

Are there any other sites worth advertising on?

Try an old piece of leather with some 3 in 1 on it

I would NOT use wire wool - too aggresive.

Even a cotton rag and oil might clean the gun up but the suede side of leather is best

If it cleans off really nicely then 225 plus post is closer to the mark

These are my favorite rifles; lots made but still have a real following because they are just so well balanced and easy to cock. 127's are worth a bit less than 124's (.177's). Both are great to shoot.

Valuation in this condition as already said: £220 plus post but that should include the period scope and mounts.
The rust is annoying and stops this rifle being worth more. Gentle rub with good gun oil will take it off but too aggressive will thin the bluing. Oil anyway to stop the rot. This rifle will sell quickly because they are always in demand, however over price them and they don't. Anyone buying it will probably invest in some new innards which will cost quite a bit, but then the rifle will be good to go for another 25 years.

As above, rifle on it's own and assuming it is in good shooting order (Have you tested it over a chronograph?)
    approx' £180 - £200, £200 - £230 with scope.

As for treating the rust? I'll PM you with some basic guidelines.
