Ruger Old Army adjustable rear sight alternative ?

My ROA shoots 6" high even when the adjustable sights are adjusted to the lowest level.

I've read the blade in the rear sight can have the notch filed down another 1/16" for a bit more adjustment, but I'd like a spare sight blade before I start bodging things.

Does anyone know if the adjustable sight on the ROA is unique to that gun, or is it the same sight as on another Ruger gun ?

Is there a 3rd party rear sight that can be fitted in the place of the existing rear sight ?

Mine had the same problem. The front sight blade is held in with a pin. I used the existing front blade as a pattern and filed a new one slightly taller.

I used aluminium painted matt black because thats what I had. One day when I have time, I'll make another out of steel and blue it!

Mine has a millet target sight on the back and a large brass fore sight that the previous owner made using the original fore sight as a template.

The millet rear sight is very user friendly.
