Anyone ever used a physical auction?

As opposed to an online one?
    Easy? Too much commission?

The drawback with an online auction in UK is that unless you can collect the gun(s) in person, you are stung for transfer fees between RFDs.

I recently bought a pistol via an online auction, but carriage and transfer fees cost me more than the pistol. Had I known that in advance, I probably wouldn't have bid.

Conversely, I can buy in USA and parcel comes direct to door, with no RFD involved - strange laws

I've been to a regular auction in Chester they have a RFD and you can leave with sub 12fpe/6fpe rifles and pistols.

It's mostly cheaper on the bbs but an interesting outing.

    byrnesauctioneers.co.uk Sporting auctions 2 or 3 times a year

Do you know when the next one is due? Chester is within easy reach for me.

Go and view in person. Condition reports etc seldom tell the whole story and the single picture (if you make do with that) almost never does!
Be there and bid for yourself, allow the 20% or so for fees, pay and collect then you're off on your next adventure and no suprises!
