The action after its first coat of paint.

Im hoping that i will be able to complete the painting and varnishing over the next few days then i will be ready to re-assemble the rifle.
    That looks good.

What make of varnish did you use?

I am finding it hard to locate some suitable polyurathane varnish for stock finishing - did you find a spray can type by any chance?

    Thanks Zooma.
I used International Yacht Varnish thinned with a little cellulose thinners and applied it with an airbrush. It takes about 12 to 18 hours between coats and when ive finished coating it it will take about another 3 or 4 day to cure but it cures as hard as a whores heart.

Now that must be one very hard finish!

Thanks for the info - Bob.

    The End Result.

Assembled the MK4 meteor today, loaded it up with AA Fields and had a few shots over my combro, running at around 9.7 so im happy with the end results.
Heres some pics but without a rear sight that snapped somewhere during the refurb.

That looks to be a very good job indeed, how did you do the gold lettering on the action?

    Thanks guys.
Jackal1, i used an acrylic paint, simply applied it over the lettering flooding the groves then lightly wiped the top of the cylinder with a cloth leaving the paint in the lettering.

    Gold Lettering

Small artists brush, paint and tissue is required.

Flood the engraved lettering with just enough paint to cover the Lettering.

Wipe gently in one pass with tissue removing excess paint from cylinder, repeat when paint dries till you are happy with the finish.

    End result.
