Is there any way of finding out the year in which my Webley Mk 3 was manufactured?
I am guessing there must be a record kept somewhere - can anybody advise if this information is available "online", or if not generally available can the date of my Mk 3 number 85306 be found?

According to Chris Thrale's book, B5306 was produced in January 1974.
Hi,
Protek supplies have this book at reasonable cost. just tap them into Google. The book is available elsewhere
eg E*** at silly prices!
Not a cheap book anyway but don't let that deter you if you are really interested in Webley rifles, it's a must have!
It's 'Webley air rifles 1925 - 2005'.
Chris.
There are two main books on Bsa air rifles; the period 1904-1918 is covered in detail in "BSA and Lincoln Jeffries Air Rifles" by John Knibbs, published in 1986, obviously now out of print and only occasionally available secondhand at high prices. "The Golden Century" again by John Knibbs covers the 20th century activity of BSA, including the powder burners. This was published in 2002 and copies may still be available from John Knibbs. Both are worthwhile to seek out and give much information on serial no`s. and dates of manufacture, etc.

www.airgunspares.com will get you onto John Knibbs International website. They may still have copies of "The Golden Century" at list price, but for a copy of "BSA and Lincoln Jeffries Air Rifles" you will need to search the specialist second hand book sellers such as Hereward Books, www.herewardbooks.co.uk Expect to pay £70-00 upwards for the odd copy that may turn up.
