Could anyone tell me if the flip-up covers are removable, especially the rear one, on this model? Im thinking of getting one to go on a 22lr but I need to know about the covers as I would like to use my Cobra on the back for night shooting.

Yes they both come off,theres a tool but you can remove easy.
