Reloading Data for 40 grain BT's with Hodgdon H322 in .223

Sorry for the question guys, I've done a search on here and unfortantely cannot access and 'weapons' related sites form work.

I have the Hornady Handbook of Cartridge and Reloading (8th Edition), and whilst it gives loads for H322 in the 45, 50, 52-53, 55 & 60 grains, it only lists H335 (as well as others) under the 40 grain section / page and no mention of H322.

I note H335 is listed for all of the above, is this a more versative powder, I notice it is marginally cheaper.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

With a 2.260 OAL you max at 27grains so would expect it to be a tad slow for 40s but probably achievable. Depends on the cases you are using but that is with a water capacity of 28 grains, but most of mine were around 30.
for a 28 capacity case that = 112% fill, with a 30 capacity case, you can get 27.8 grains before max. You will need a long drop tube. If you are after a cheaper powder look t Vectan or VV powders. I used a nice vv120 load with 40 CBTs and it was very accurate and getting towards 3800 fps.

Will a 40grn suit your 1 in 8 twist though i.e would it be too short for top accuracy?

good point 1 in 8 is a bit fast for the 40grn.

We'll soon see. Failing that I'll keep the .224 40's for another calibre or swap with my shooting friend.

Maybe focus on the V-max 53's. It just seems a shame pelting a heavy bullet to dispatch bunnies at long distance over a flatter / faster flying 32 / 40 grainer?
