    Alecto with moderator.

Just fitted custom barrel and moderator to my .177 alecto. The result is astounding.

Very nice! That's just elbowed its way to the top of a long wish list...
Have you noticed any effect on the muzzle flip?

Nothing, not a twitch, nada ,zilch, zero.
Weather permitting im gonna run 5 of 10 types of pellet through it with my combro tonight for a definitive test but .177 accupel have averaged at 5.01 ft Lbs.
Also, the iron sight is still useable...
I'm still amazed at how quiet it is........

SSP/MSPs respond so well to moderators, it's a bit of a puzzle why most of them make it so difficult to fit one...

Is this something that TR Robb keeps in stock, or a special order?

Well, mine was in stock but i supect its made to order.
Its well made, rifled, fits perfectley and the thread on the end doesnt look unsightly if you want to use it without the moderator.
    However, you wont! ;-)
£105 i paid, then £25 RFD fee and of course the moderator. Doesnt invalidate warrenty...

I'll be on the phone tomorrow then... I take it the £25 was the charge your RFD charged? So the barrel posted to your RFD is £105 from T R Robb?
I shall have to find out what my regular gunshop will charge me - 3 guns and a shedload of ammo and gas in the last year shoud put me in the favourites camp hopefully...

Yep, £100 for barrel, deep-sea-diver to post it, then £25 RFD fee.
Myself and my mate have spent several THOUSAND pounds in the last year and they charged me, its a standard fee though.
Also, tonight, i have stuck a variety of ammo through it (bought a 10 pack off fleabay).
Diablo field, accupel, H&N FTT and RWS superdome came up trumps.
RWS superpoint, JSB exact diablo, magnum, RWS Super hollow point, Falcon and RWS super point all did poorly.

H&N FTT and accupel are the ( H&N FTT have the edge) joint winners (phew, bulk bought these for the hw100).
Be careful tapping the old barrel out, put something over the end of the original barrel, it will prevent damage as you tap it out should you ever need to return the gun.
I averaged 5.7 Ft lbs so there has been a slight increase in power. Thats with 3 pumps on a .177

Mine looks nothing like any of those though....

Recieved my barrel today...absolutely chuffed as nuts
Had a scary moment when first fitted as the pellets were all over the place, but after a bit of lead was put down the barrel it reurned to its usual excellence. Having a silencer makes this gun so much more useable for me.
Terry was a gent and easy to deal with (VCR nonsense notwithstanding), and my RFD mate refused to take any money from me
It's been a good day for guns.

Thanks to Cornz for bringing this to my attention

ps. I had no idea the original alecto barrel was ported??
