all of the shops i contacted have none in stock, or not in the size i need (for a 6'' revolver). & none are expecting any in for several weeks or more. as for my local gunshops- one has none in stock & can't get any for 2 months, the 3 others only get them to order. none have them in stock, ready to buy without a tedious wait.Erm, they're not?

Try Maplins online, look for hard cases and then the nearest store to you that has them in stock.
The link I gave you had them in stock last week, if you measure your gun I can tell you if it wil ft in the case or not.

update: got 2 MTM 808 cases- arrived yesterday from euroguns. not the ones i was after, but bigger, & each will hold 2 guns, so i won't need more cases for the next 2 guns i get.
